The 55th Session of the Executive Council of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (EC-55 IOC) was held during June 14-17, 2022. Prof. Yutaka Michida attended as a head of the Japanese delegation, and Prof. H. Saito as a member. EC-55 was an in-person meeting of EC after COVID-19 pandemic, and we met many IOC colleagues in the venue, UNESCO Head Quarter, Paris. It was supported IOC-led UN Ocean Decade Actions, such as the 2nd cooperative study of Kuroshio (CSK2), stemming the tide of Asia's riverine plastic emission, integrating coastal hazard warning systems, etc.
